The Way Home
Unfortunately, 20% of the births in DeKalb County (Alabama) each year are to mothers 12-19 years old, and 55% of these are unmarried. While some of these young mothers receive unlimited support from their families, others feel they can’t return home because of varying circumstances. The Way Home is a Christian home for young mothers who are in search of unconditional love, structure and a way to improve their lives and the lives of their children. We help them grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually through the love of Christ.
What is the Way Home?
The Way Home is a Christian ministry for unwed teen mothers. Our goal is to encourage young mothers to experience the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ and to guide them into becoming responsible and loving parents.
The girls are supervised and ministered to in a family atmosphere by our house parents, a married couple who has spent many years in the mission field.
Who can come to our Home?
Girls’ ages 13-19 that have a willing heart and a strong desire to change their lives are welcome. We give priority to DeKalb County residents, but girls are accepted on a case-by-case basis. We encourage family involvement, participation and support.
Our Supporters:
Churches, community organizations, businesses and individuals support the Way Home. No state or federal funding is accepted. We are a non-profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
How you can help:
Prayer – The most important contribution you can make to The Way Home are daily prayers for the girls and babies who come to the home, as well as for the house parents and staff ministering in the home.
Monthly support and cash gifts – Monthly support is the foundation of our budget. We survive on regular gifts of $10, $25, $100 or more each month. We provide a yearly statement of all donations for income tax purposes.
Honor and Memorial Program – Making a donation to The Way Home is a thoughtful way to honor special friends or family members. An appropriate letter will be sent to each honoree’s family.
In-kind gifts – The Way Home accepts any donations of laundry and bathroom supplies, cleaning and paper products, food and pantry items, maternity and baby clothes, and baby items. In addition, we accept items, which will help, keep the household running. We are a 501c3 charitable organization, and all donors will receive a tax-deductible receipt.
The Way Home has been in operation for three yeas now offering a home to 20 residents and serving over 150 families with referral services and resources. If you are interested in helping this ministry please contact The Way Home at:
